Pastor's History
The Reverend Bobby Welborn was born in Rayle, Georgia on March 28, 1952 to Mr. & Mrs. Will Henry Welborn. Pastor Welborn had his first teaching about God's Word from his Mom, Rosetta, who would take young Bobby and his sisters to Lineville Baptist church for Sunday School each Sunday.
As a child, pastor enjoyed learning about Jesus and His Word. As a teenager he moved to Dayton, Ohio where he and his family united with the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized by Pastor David W. McFarland.
While there he continued to study, love and teach the Word of God. He attended the American Baptist College Extension School. He ministered as a Sunday School teacher and later became the Baptist Training Union Teacher.
In 1973 Pastor Welborn moved to Toledo, Ohio and united with the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I.J. Johnson, where he was licensed and ordained as a Preacher of God's Word.
Pastor Welborn earned his Bachelor's Degree while attending the Toledo Bible College and other schools of higher learning. Currently and for many years Pastor is the Lecturer for the Baptist Ministers Conference of Toledo and Vicinity. Pastor also presides as the President of the Baptist Ministers Foresight of Toledo, in addition to being the Dean of the American Baptist College -Toledo Extension.
In 1991 Pastor Welborn graduated from the Owens Technical College as a Die Maker. He retired from the Ford Motor Company (Maumee Division) in 2007 after thirty & a half years.
Pastor Welborn is the founding Pastor of the Charity Missionary Baptist Church and has been Pastor since its inception in May of 1981. Pastor is a God-sent, spiritual leader. He is a shepherd who loves his people and is willing to take time for both the young and the elderly.
Pastor believes the lack of emphasis and time given to teaching and training in Biblical knowledge and sound Christian doctrine is the reason for the lack of people's spirituality.
We are truly blessed to have a Pastor who is an Anointed Preacher, Teacher and Servant of God. Pastor Welborn is well known as a Giant of a teacher and a awesome defender of doctrinal purity and the fundamental truths of the Faith.
We are honored to have a leader who loves to lead and feed us so that we may grow and be blessed. Pastor Welborn is married to Vickey Lynn, and to this union they are blessed with four children; Rev. Mylan (Sis. JaNae'), Sis. Monica Hunt, Sis. Bobby Monique, and Sis. Melinda (Shawn) Hoskins & Tweleve grandchildren.
Sis. Vickey is our Pastor's greatest supporter and with the Lord's help she spends endless energy and much time to further the Ministry. We are blessed to have her as our "First Lady" she is a great example of a Godly Christian woman and wife.
